a vaccine & a bad waiting room day.

yesterday was LP's chicken pox & MMR vaccine day. it was supposed to be a "get in and out there" in an hour as we have done in the past, but murphy stepped in. our doctor's usual secretary was on maternity leave and her temp was. not. good. 


i rang at 10am to make an appointment and she said "maam you can come now. no one is here yet and the doctor is on her way." eager to get the job out of the way, we arrived 15 minutes later, with 3 patients who got there before us (must've been told the same thing) and no pediatrician. we tried to wait, with BBB anxious to have left the office with a million and one things to do. no doctor in sight, we left after 11am, with instructions to the secretary to let us know when the doctor arrives and when there is one patient left before us. 


gah. this is getting boring. the short of it is, temp secretary made another wrong move and we ended up wasting another two hours in the waiting room. which was filthy. dirt visible on the floor. candy wrappers tucked into the crannies behind the seat backs. empty wrappers and a water bottle left on the seats. gah. of course, LP was the expert in uncovering such things. 


and then it turns out, our pediatrician was not too happy with their temp's performance either. oh dear. i hate complaining and i hate thinking complaining might cause someone to lose the job. but gads, must the consumer suffer in silence? 


and about the actual shot, LP was fine. he wondered what the pinprick was (in the upper arm), and made to cry but, we distracted him with the pedia's rattle.
