off to morocco for the next 12 days starting tomorrow. i'm sure i can find somewhere with an internet connection, but i won't. i intend to cut myself off from my worlds as i know it. oh, but i do have my mobile phone on roaming, in case the commercial editing gets a hiccup. but i have delegated to a friend and all the details are taken care of, unless murphy comes into play.

tattoo tut tut
one important thing i forgot to write about was a conversation i had with my OB about my tattoo.
i have a large-ish black ink work on my lower back, right on the spine, measuring about 3.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches high. i had it done in 2003 and i'm proud to say that i have received many compliments on how beautiful it is.
i told my OB about it because i told her right off that i want an epidural. yep. none of this totally natural and drug-free births for me. yep. i am not a pain hound, and two of the things i fear for real are 1) dying while giving birth and 2) the pain while giving birth. i may not have control over #1, but heck, let me do what i can over #2. no lamaze classes for me, just stick in that epidural please thank you. however, i did look into water births but chong hua doesn't offer it and i don't think anybody else in cebu does.
the reason i mentioned my tattoo to my OB is because i'd heard that you can't have an epidural in an area where you have a tattoo because sticking a needle in might drive some ink into your spine. how true? i would research more on this if i had time, but between work and morocco, it will have to be after that.
so anyways, i showed my tat to my OB and she said "its a beautiful tattoo. my gosh. but why do you have it there?" "because i wasn't thinking of getting pregnant and getting an epidural when i had it done."
and can i have an epidural? she has to check with her anesthesiologist.

are you really pregnant?
that's what my OB jokingly asked me today when i went in for my monthly check up. i feel fine. i have no issues. i'm eating well. my blood pressure is fine. i still fit in my clothes. i'm allegedly 18 to 19 weeks into the pregnancy but strangely enough, its my brain more than my body that tells me i am pregnant. i did gain 2 pounds. if i didn't i would wonder where all that food is going.
oh, but i almost forgot, she does have this thing that lets us listen to the baby's heart beat. and its there. thumping away like a tiny little engine in a room full of gelatine. OB says that we can have a second scan in april and we can find out if its a boy or a girl. funny enough, both BBB and i are not inclined to find out before the baby comes out. we are old school that way. the only drawback to that is we're likely to call the baby "it" until it tells us on d-day if it is a boy or a girl.
the other good thing is i have been given clearance to go to morocco. not that we ever had any doubts that i couldn't go, having booked our flights and all. however, i've never been pregnant before and so have no idea what to expect, really.

green purse tip #6
use yousendit.com & skype
as a corollary to the flash/drive thumb drive idea, yousendit.com lets me work with my post production team without having to actually be with them. he edits, sends me the file by yousendit, we discuss changes and corrections in real time on skype.
no cds/dvds involved for viewing drafts.
no commuting involved.
i don't sit around waiting for his machine to render.
oh, and client and ad agency are based in manila. so we send them our final files for approval via yousendit too. although they do tend to call and text. but that's not unusual--they're telecoms people. perhaps they feel obliged to patronize their own services?
anyways, both yousendit & skype are free (at least our settings for the services we use are!)

naturally morocco
is the name of the company that will handle our trip in morocco. i just saw the confirmed (and paid for) itinerary in my inbox, which is what reminded me to write about it here.
no, we are not going on a guided package tour.* the way i understand it, the company books our hotels and takes us from one city/locale to another, but our day's itinerary is up to us. at least i think that's how it goes. i am actually too busy with this tv commercial series (we are editing to air a new one every week until the beginning of may) to actually do any research, which is fine by me. fortunately, we are traveling with friends of BBB's parents and Mr. Ouja likes to do all the research for the trips--what to see, where to go, what to eat and all that. it is a role i would gladly do except i am in over my head with this commercial project and everything is rush rush rush in order to make it to the weekly airing schedule.
i am sure i will like morocco. as i do any country i have never been to before.
cost: Naturally Morocco tailors trips, so our cost may not be that relevant to anybody else. but anyways: for two persons staying in hotels in various places in morocco for 12 days (with breakfast) and van rental (shared vehicle with BBB's parents and Mr. & Mrs. Ouja) the cost is GBP1,300. hmmm. that is roughly 8 or 9 thousand pesos per night. i have no point of reference on whether that is cheap or expensive or what. by fiilpino standards, any travel outside of the philippines is pretty damn expensive anyway. but hey, how many times does one go to morocco?
we're flying via qatar airways. cebu-doha-casablanca-marrakech.
*i have never been on one and don't ever intend to go on one. i am used to having a 50% itinerary from doing travel-style documentary programs. that means you have some sort of plan for the day, or a least a definite destination for the day, but what you actually do on the day is played by ear.

leggings
yes, you read the title right, this post is going to be about leggings. and i don't have much to say other than that i've bought some. in the middle of preparing for the shoot and sourcing a wardrobe for our talent (i love browsing shops, so wardsrobe management is a role i enjoy in my slasher job life), i managed to get me a couple in SM. a pair in brown and a pair in white. nothing fancy. in fact, they were cheap.
i am not a leggings person, but for two reasons, i had to have them.
1.) it looks like i might need them as a layering option for the morocco trip. and i have no real layering option other than stripey knee socks. cebu's humid weather has brainwashed me into thinking i do not need layers. therefore when i realize i might need layers, cheap leggings will do.
2.) it seems to be the uniform of pregnant women. preggy dress and leggings. i still fit into my normal clothes, but i imagine once the belly gets rounder, i will not like the feeling of my levi's cutting into my stomach.
so i'll give leggings a try.
cost: brown lycra leggings Php 199.75
white cotton blend leggings Php 99 (you read that right)
